COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican sophomore wide receiver Cory Contini (Dover, Ohio) was named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American on Wednesday. He is the fourth football student-athlete to earn First Team Academic All-American honors in program honors and the first since 2011.
Contini carries a 3.93 GPA and is an accounting major. He was the only sophomore selected to the first team and one of just four total recognized.
A Second Team All-GLIAC performer on the field this fall, Contini had one of the best single seasons for an ODU receiver in program, hauling in 69 passes for 984 yards and seven touchdowns. In the regular season, he ranked fourth in the GLIAC in both catches and yards, and the reception total is the fourth-most in ODU history while his yardage was the fifth-best total. Contini had four 100-plus yard receiving games this fall.
