COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore wide receiver Cory Contini (Dover, Ohio) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Thursday.
Contini carries a 3.93 GPA and is an accounting major while also ranking as one of the top receivers in the GLIAC. He leads the GLIAC with 61 receptions, which ranks 22nd in the country, and is fourth in the league with 865 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He's 24th in the country in yards and 49th in touchdowns.
He set career highs in catches (11) and yards (171) at Northern Michigan and has three other performances of more than 100 yards, including a 10 catch, 150 yard effort with two touchdowns against No. 2 Grand Valley State.
With two games still left, Contini's 865 yards are the sixth-most in ODU single-season history, and his 61 catches are seventh. Only four ODU wideouts have surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in a season.
Contini is now eligible for consideration on the CoSIDA Academic All-American team.
Ohio Dominican (6-3, 6-3 GLIAC) will take on Wayne State (7-2, 7-2 GLIAC) at noon on Saturday in Panther Stadium.
