GREEN BAY, Wisc. – Former Ohio Dominican wide receiver Dez Stewart (Cincinnati, Ohio) was signed to the Green Bay Packers practice squad, the organization announced last night.
Stewart spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the NFL Draft and was in training camp with the Washington Redskins.
Stewart is one of the most decorated receivers in ODU history, setting the school record with 3,197 yards receiving. Stewart finished his career with 196 receptions and 25 touchdowns. He earned First Team All-GLIAC honors as both a receiver and kick returner in 2015 while also picking up First Team All-GLIAC honors as a sophomore and junior.
As a sophomore, Stewart set ODU's single-game receiving record with 187 yards against Georgetown College, and during his junior year he paced the GLIAC with 1,156 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
He averaged 25.2 yards per kick return as a senior and also had a 71 yard punt return for a touchdown.
Stewart registered 3,968 all-purpose yards in his 43 games in a Panther uniform and helped ODU win the 2013 GLIAC title and reach the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2014.
