WACO, Texas – Ohio Dominican's football team picked up a pair of votes in the AFCA Preseason Top 25 poll, released Monday afternoon.
The Panthers are one of six GLIAC schools to either be ranked in the Top 25 or be picking up votes. This is the fourth straight year the Panthers have garnered votes in the preseason poll, dating back to the 2013 season.
Other conference schools in the rankings include Grand Valley State (No. 3), Ashland (No. 6), Ferris State (No. 12), Michigan Tech (RV) and Saginaw Valley State (RV). All five of those schools appear on ODU's schedule this fall, with the Panthers and Bulldogs kicking off the season at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Ohio Dominican finished 2015 with an 8-3 record, winning seven of its last eight games. The Panthers are 33-6 in their last 39 games overall (.846), outscoring opponents by an average of 19.5 points per game in that stretch. ODU has also won 35 straight games against unranked opponents, dating back to the 2011 season.
