BAY CITY, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's football team was projected to finish in a tie for second in the GLIAC South Division preseason poll in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
The Panthers nabbed 19 total points and one first place vote. This is the fifth straight year the Panthers have been picked to finish first or second in the South Division race.
Ashland was projected to win the division after garnering 25 total points and the other five first place votes, while Tiffin is tied with ODU with 19 points as well.
Rounding out the South Division standings are Findlay (13 points), Walsh (nine points) and Lake Erie (five).
In the North Division, Grand Valley picked up 47 points and five first place votes to lead the pack, while Ferris State totaled 45 points and three first place votes.
The Panthers play both the Lakers and Bulldogs, along with the third and fourth place teams in the North Division in Michigan Tech (35 points) and Wayne State (30 points).
ODU opens the 2016 season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at Ferris State, which is ranked No. 17 in the Sporting News preseason poll and No. 20 in Lindy's.
