NASHVILLE – Freshman Joel Roediger (Wapakoneta, Ohio) allowed just two runs over 6.0 innings and senior Chris Sackett (Loveland, Ohio) hit a go-ahead two-run double as Ohio Dominican's baseball team took game two 4-3 from Trevecca on Saturday.
The Panthers bounced back from a 6-1 setback in the opener to split the weekend series with the Trojans.
Roediger allowed just three hits in the contest, and the lone runs came on a homer in the second inning. He matched a season-high with seven punchouts and threw 60 of his 96 pitches for strikes.
Sophomore Tim Zeller (Mount Vernon, Ohio) and junior Joey Machuga (Canfield, Ohio) then started the sixth inning off with basehits and would come in on Sackett's hit down the left field line to put ODU on top 4-2.
Freshman Manny Vorhees (Wapakoneta, Ohio) entered and allowed one run over the seventh and eighth innings before Zeller worked a one-two-three ninth for his third save of the season.
ODU outhit Trevecca 9-4 in the win, with Zeller and freshman Thomas Staab (Bellville, Ohio) each recording a pair to lead the offense.
In the opener, Trevecca scored all six of its runs over the first three innings, and the Panthers could counter with just one run in the third inning.
ODU finished with just three hits in the game, though junior Logan Giddings (Pickerington, Ohio) worked 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, yielding just one hit.
Ohio Dominican will travel to Indianapolis for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
