COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at home to Walsh on Wednesday, falling by scores of 10-5 and 28-4.
The Cavaliers (27-9, 16-4 GLIAC) added a single run in both the fourth and fifth innings, but the Panthers answered in the fifth. Senior Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) hit a two-run shot to left field, his eighth of the season, and junior Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) tripled and came in to score to cut it to 8-5.
However, Walsh put the game away with two runs in the seventh inning.
Evans and sophomore Brad Hull (Gahanna, Ohio) each had two hits to lead ODU.
In game two, Walsh scored in each of the first seven innings, including a trio of six-run innings, to put the game away.
Sophomore Jace Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) and junior Matt Meihls (Fort Wayne, Ind.) each hit their first collegiate home runs to lead the Panthers. Both finished with two hits, as did freshman Jonathan Conkle (Massillon, Ohio).
Ohio Dominican returns to action with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday against Findlay in Panther Valley.
