AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Junior Matt Kittelberger (Massillon, Ohio) was sharp in his 7.2 innings of work as Ohio Dominican's baseball team defeated Mansfield 9-3 on Friday afternoon in the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational.

Kittelberger allowed eight hits and two unearned runs in the longest outing of his career. He also set a personal best by striking out eight hitters and walked just one.

Sophomore Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) went 3-for-4 with three RBIs while senior Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) and sophomore Noah Bland (Oberlin, Ohio) also knocked in a pair of runs to lead the Panthers.

Kaucher got the Panthers (9-4) scoring started in the first inning with an RBI single to right field, scoring sophomore Brad Hull (Gahanna, Ohio) who had doubled earlier in the frame. The Panthers bumped their lead to 3-0 in the second inning on a two-out, two-run single by Evans that brought home senior Kyle Burson (Brunswick, Ohio) and sophomore Genesis Hillard (Cincinnati, Ohio).

A sacrifice fly by sophomore Jace Komminsk (Westerville, Ohio) made it 4-0 in the fourth, and another RBI single from Kaucher bumped the cushion to 5-0 in the fifth.

ODU tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning on Kaucher's RBI triple and a Mountie error, and a two-run triple by Bland in the eighth gave the Panthers a 9-0 lead.

Ohio Dominican will take on Wayne State in a GLIAC doubleheader at 10 a.m. Saturday to wrap up play at the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational.
