Baseball Signs Seven To Letters Of Intent

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team signed seven student-athletes to letters of intent to join the program for the 2018 season.

"We are extremely excited about adding this group of talented young men and their families to our program," head coach Chris Antonides said. "They address a lot of our needs that we have moving forward, and they will help us carry on the tradition of this program moving forward."


Dylan Appolloni | 6-0 | P | Powell, Ohio/Bishop Watterson

High School: Has earned two letters…Compiled a 3.90 ERA…Helped lead Eagles to district championship as a junior…Also played basketball.

Personal: Son of Bill and Gail Appolloni…Has two siblings, Samantha and Sarah…Enjoys spending time with family and friends…Chose ODU because of the location, the coaching staff, and the combination of academics and athletics.


Dominic Frengel | 6-1 | IF | Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne

High School: Earned First Team All-OCC and first team all-district honors for the Wolves.

Personal: Son of Rachael and Tom Matthews…Chose ODU because it is close to home, the pre-physical therapy program, the coaching staff and the baseball field.


Andrew Mason | 6-2 | C/1B | Coshocton, Ohio/Coshocton

High School: Batted .275 with 24 RBI as a junior…Earned second team all-district and Second Team All-ECOL accolades, as well as a Gold Glove award…Batted .417 as a sophomore while picking up First Team All-ECOL and first team all-district honors…Also earned a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award that season…Second Team All-ECOL as a freshman…Career .336 hitter with 65 RBI…Also played football and basketball for Coshocton…First Team All-ECOL quarterback for the Redskins as well as Special Mention All-Ohio pick…Also an all-conference and all-district performer in basketball.

Personal: Son of Brent Mason and Beth Walsh…Has one sibling, Griffin…Enjoys basketball, football and swimming…Chose ODU because of the coaching staff, the campus, the location, the education and the opportunity to succeed in baseball.


Zach McDonough | 6-0 | C | Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier

High School: Also played basketball for the Bombers.

Personal: Son of Julia and Steve McDonough…Has two siblings, Hunter and Madison…Enjoys cars, baseball and basketball…Picked ODU because "the school fit my personality and I really liked the campus and the baseball coaches."


Josh Oddi | 6-1 | IF | Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln

High School: Batted .330 for the Lions last season, helping Gahanna reach regional finals.

Personal: Son of Josh Oddi...Enjoys listening to music…Chose ODU because of the opportunities to be successful and the caliber of the school.


Kenneth Pettay | 5-11 | OF | Groveport, Ohio/Groveport Madison

High School: Batted .330 as a junior…Lettered four times in soccer and has earned three letters in baseball.

Personal: Son of Mark Pettay…Has five siblings: Andrew, Ashley, Luke, Ryan and Riley…Enjoys all sports…Picked ODU because of the baseball program.


Tim Zeller | 6-0 | SS/P | Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon

High School: Three-year letterwinner…Batted .374 last season…Also played basketball.

Personal: Son of Chris and Terry Zeller…Enjoys fishing…Chose ODU because of the combination of academics and baseball, the small school fit, the baseball field, and the baseball program.
