"Spring" was a relative term in the Midwest for most of March and April. Temperatures stayed well below seasonal averages, and a cold, biting wind permeated throughout the season.

Ohio Dominican's baseball team welcomed Tiffin to Panther Valley for a weekend series on March 23-24. Saturday's doubleheader, which featured a pair of ODU victories, was cold with temperatures in the low 40s, but at least clear. Sunday's series finale was not as picturesque.

With snows expected to hit Columbus in the afternoon, first pitch was moved up to 11 a.m., with a chilling temperature of 35 degrees and overcast skies. But despite the thermometer, both teams' offenses were hot, as Tiffin put up three runs in the first, and ODU answering with seven total runs in the second and third innings.

The Dragons came back to tie it at 7-7 in the fifth, but Kevin Lydic (Dublin, Ohio) had an RBI double and Phil Jaskot (Upper Arlington, Ohio) hit a sacrifice fly to give the Panthers the lead back in the bottom of the inning.

Tiffin answered again, though, with a two-run single in the sixth and plating an unearned run in the seventh on a Panther error to go in front 10-9.

ODU struck back in its half of the eighth, as Jossue Delgado (Barinas, Venezuela) hit an RBI single, stole second and came in to score on an RBI basehit off the bat of Collin Parcher (Napoleon, Ohio), staking the Panthers to an 11-10 lead.

By this point, snowflakes had been swirling around the diamond, and the Dragons took advantage of another ODU defensive miscue to tie the game at 11 and send it to extras.

Ryan Rovnak (Poland, Ohio) stepped to the plate for ODU with one out in the bottom of the tenth. He came into the season with one career home run, which came against Ashland in 2012. After getting ahead in the count 3-0, the senior took a called strike, then turned on a pitch and launched a laser into right field which cleared the wall and gave the Panthers the 12-11 walkoff victory.

The game took nearly four hours to complete, featuring 23 combined runs on 27 hits and 10 errors. Eight pitchers appeared in the contest as well.
