Baseball Drops Opener at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team began its three-game series with Ashland with an 18-3 setback in GLIAC play on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers fell to 22-25 (16-15 GLIAC), while the Eagles improved to 31-15 (18-11 GLIAC).

The Eagles scored once in the first inning, then tacked on five runs in the fourth to go on top 6-0.

ODU scored twice in the fifth, on a Marcus Schluessler (Zanesville, Ohio) RBI single and a Ryan Rovnak (Poland, Ohio) sacrifice fly.

But Ashland responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning and didn't look back from there.

Rovnak went 3-for-3 and Schluessler and sophomore Phil Jaskot (Upper Arlington, Ohio) had two hits apiece for ODU.

Ohio Dominican and Ashland conclude their three-game series with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Sunday.
