WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Ohio Dominican's baseball team allowed four runs in both the seventh and ninth innings and suffered a 9-1 setback to Wayne State (Neb.) Sunday at the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational.

An RBI single by freshman Collin Parcher (Napoleon, Ohio) had tied the game in the sixth for the Panthers, but WSC responded with four runs in the top of the seventh and tacked on four more in the ninth to seal the win.

Sophomore Marcus Schluessler (Zanesville, Ohio) had three of Ohio Dominican's seven hits, which was a career-best, but no other Panther had more than one hit.

The Wildcats (4-3) led 1-0 in the second inning, and ODU (2-4) only advanced one runner into scoring position before the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, Parcher's RBI base knock brought in sophomore Kyle Tisdale – who had singled earlier in the inning – to knot the game at one.

But Wayne State took advantage of two ODU errors in the seventh to go in front 5-1, and the Panthers would manage just one more hit over the final three innings.

Sophomore Cole Carpenter (Zanesville, Ohio) took the loss, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing five runs (one earned). He struck out four in the setback.

Parcher has now driven in seven runs in ODU's first three games of the invitational.

The Panthers return to action with a doubleheader against Wheeling Jesuit on Monday, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Winter Haven.
