Ohio Dominican Ranked As Top Division II Institution in State in First Learfield Standings

CLEVELAND – Ohio Dominican sits 42nd in the Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings following the completion of the fall sports season, the highest ranked Division II school in the state of Ohio.

The Panthers earned that ranking based on the football team and men’s soccer team both advancing to the NCAA postseason for the first time in school history. The football team earned 53 points, while the men’s soccer team picked up 50 to give ODU a cumulative 103 points for the fall season.

Ohio Dominican is one of seven GLIAC schools to appear in the Learfield rankings at the conclusion of the fall and is the third-highest ranked university from the conference.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women’s and seven men’s – and the standings will be updated throughout the course of the 2013-14 season.
