BAY CITY, Mich. – Senior outside hitter Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) was named Second Team All-GLIAC and senior libero Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honors, the league office announced Saturday.
The duo was then joined by sophomore Tara Winner (Versailles, Ohio), junior Kristy Birkemeier (Columbus Grove, Ohio), junior Shannon Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) and sophomore Emily Post (St. Henry, Ohio) on the GLIAC All-Academic squads.
Billing closed her final season with a team-best 374 kills and a .221 attack percentage while also registering 340 digs, second on the squad. She averaged 3.43 kills per set and 3.12 digs per set, both leading the team, and also totaled 412.5 points this year. Billing tallied 17 double-doubles in 29 matches and had three matches of 20 or more kills, including a monster 24 kill performance against nationally ranked Hillsdale in which she hit .595.
She closed her career with 1,599 career kills, which is fifth all-time in school history, and her 500 sets played are ninth-most. Her 3.20 kills per set ranks fifth, and she moved into third all-time with 1,816 digs.
Rogg, meanwhile, led the defense with 454 digs, averaging 4.13 per set. She also paced the team with 27 aces this year. Rogg had at least 11 digs in the team's final 14 matches and she played in all 110 sets, including a season-high 29 digs against Ferris State.
She cemented her place as one of the best defenders in school history, as the libero tallied 1,944 digs in her four years, which is second all-time. Her 4.25 digs per game rank as the best in school history.
On the academic side, Billing was joined by Birkemeier, Nadler and Post on the GLIAC Academic Excellence team for those who have a 3.5-4.0 GPA, while Rogg and Winner were honored on the All-Academic with those who have a GPA between 3.0-3.49.
