BAY CITY, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team was selected to finish sixth in the GLIAC South Division, as voted on by the conference's head coaches.

The Panthers picked up 11 points in the preseason vote. Hillsdale, last year's GLIAC regular season and tournament champion, garnered six first place votes and 36 points as the top team in the preseason this year.

ODU finished 2010 with an 8-19 record overall and a 3-16 mark in GLIAC play. The Panthers have six returners from last year's squad, led by seniors Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) and Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, Ohio). Billing ranks ninth in school history with 1,225 career kills while Rogg had the second-most digs per set in the GLIAC last year with 5.35.

Also back for the Panthers are juniors Kristy Birkemeier (Columbus Grove, Ohio) and Shannon Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio), as well as two sophomores in Emily Post (St. Henry, Ohio) and Tara Winner (Versailles, Ohio). ODU welcomes in 10 newcomers to the program, including eight true freshmen and two transfers.

The Panthers begin the 2011 season at the Glenville State (W. Va.) Tournament on Friday, Sept. 2, taking on both Glenville State and West Virginia State. ODU will also play two matches on Saturday against opponents to be determined.
