COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following a first place finish at the TaylorMade Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Ohio Dominican's women's golf team prepares for the Saginaw Valley State University Spring Invitational, which will be hosted at the Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18.
Play will begin at 10 a.m. on both days with a shotgun start for day two competition.
Ohio Dominican started the spring season strong at the TaylorMade Intercollegiate, taking first place team honors with a two-round score of 673 (336-337). Four Panthers finished in the top 10 of the tournament field, with sophomores Bailey Krueger (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and Emma Romine (Marysville, Ohio) finishing in the top five. Krueger took second place overall with a 166 (84-82), notching nine pars and one birdie in round two to mark the highest finish of her Ohio Dominican career. Earning her third top five finish as a Panther was sophomore Emma Romine (Marysville, Ohio), who took fifth place out of 39 with a total score of 170 (86-84). Romine has recorded two top five finishes in 2017-18 and has now recorded seven top 20 finishes for her career. Sophomore Abby Swensen (Milford, Ohio) finished sixth overall with a 172 (87-85) to earn her first top 10 finish of the year. Swensen recorded one birdie and seven pars on the day en route to her sixth top 20 finish all-time. Also finishing in the top 10 of the tournament field was junior Kaylin Dill (Sedalia, Ohio), who took seventh with a 173 (87-86). Dill earned the second top 10 finish of her career and recorded two birdies and 12 pars for the tournament.
ODU has finished in the top five of four tournaments as a team this year and in three out of their last six spring matches dating back to last season, the Panthers have finished in the top two.
Following competition at the SVSU Spring Invitational, the Panthers will head to Perry Park Resort in Perry Park, Kentucky for their next match on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25.
